Why I love PEM at Brown
What drew me to Brown wasn't just its strength in PEM, it was the program's willingness to create a combined PEM and Child Abuse Pediatrics fellowship for me after I expressed interest in training in both. Given how closely these two disciplines intersect in daily practice, that flexibility said a lot about Brown's investment in learners who are curious, community-minded, and clear about their goals, even when those goals don't fit a pre-existing mold. Being somewhere willing to build a path around that, rather than asking me to choose one, has made this feel like exactly the right place to train.
Why I love Rhode Island
Having lived up and down the East Coast — Philadelphia, Maryland, DC, New York City, Connecticut, and now Rhode Island — I was excited for the chance to explore a new city after years of moving between familiar ones. Providence drew me in almost immediately with its communal, artsy, unmistakably cute vibe. I'm looking forward to exploring the food, the beaches, and the local art scene with my husband and our puppy.
